A selection of paintings by Frank Heath Up to 1913 when he moved to Lamorna, Frank Heath's work was influenced by the early Newlyn "plein air" realist style of Stanhope Forbes. From 1913, his palette lightened appreciably and his use of colour and light became a major feature of his work; he was known locally as "the sunshine artist". He painted, with fine technique, predominantly in oils and as can be seen was very versatile in his range of subjects.
The Times newspaper, in part of its obituary to Frank Heath, wrote "...painting both the figure and landscape, Frank Heath was essentially an open air artist, direct in his methods, with a good sense of values and a fine taste in colour." An exhibition of Frank Heath's paintings was held at the Bushey Museum and Art Gallery in 1996. To view this exhibition, scroll and click on the paintings on the left. Further paintings by Frank Heath can be seen in the book.
